## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE DURING A LANDING FLARE AND TOUCHDOWN. THE PILOT'S LACK OF TOTAL AVIATION EXPERIENCE IS A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - flare/touchdown
  - aircraft control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- Nose over, landing - roll

## Analysis

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON HIS THIRD SUPERVISED SOLO. THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED ON LANDING AND THEN CAME DOWN LEFT WING FIRST. THE AIRPLANE THEN WENT OFF THE PAVED RUNWAY AND NOSED OVER IN MUD.
