## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING INITIAL CLIMB AFTER TAKEOFF. THE PILOT'S LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN THE AIRPLANE IS A FACTOR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience in type of aircraft, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, takeoff - initial climb
  - terrain condition - high vegetation

## Analysis

THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE COLLIDED WITH TREES AND A FENCE WHILE ATTEMPTING A TOUCH AND GO LANDING. THE PILOT STATED THAT ON FIRST LANDING AIRCRAFT WAS NOT TRACKING STRAIGHT. APPLIED FULL POWER, LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. AIRCRAFT DRIFTED RIGHT (WINGS LEVEL) FELT FIRST IMPACT, AIRCRAFT WENT DOWN IN TREES AND STOPPED.

## Other investigations on N9836Y (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
