- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - flare/touchdown
  - weather condition - crosswind (contributing factor)
  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll
  - ground loop/swerve - encountered, pilot in command (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE EXPERIENCED SOME WIND SHEAR DURING THE FINAL APPROACH TO LANDING. HE STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN, A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT THE AIRPLANE, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND IT GROUND LOOPED. THE PILOT HAD 170 HOURS TOTAL FLIGHT EXPERIENCE, INCLUDING 131 HOURS IN THE ACCIDENT MAKE AND MODEL AIRCRAFT.

## Other investigations on N6VD (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA16CA309](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA16CA309), Jun 11, 2016: Maule MX 7 (N6VD), Ontario, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted the right wing impacting the ground, and nose down.
