## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S IMPROPER REMEDIAL ACTION. HIS LACK OF TOTAL EXPEREINCE WAS A FACTOR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - proper alignment - not maintained, pilot in command
  - remedial action - improper, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- Nose over, takeoff - roll/run

## Analysis

THE STUDENT PILOT REPORTED THAT HE LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING THE TAKEOFF ATTEMPT FOR HIS FIRST SOLO FLIGHT. HE SAID THAT WHEN HE RAISED THE NOSEHWEEL FOR LIFTOFF, THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED TO THE LEFT. HE APPLIED RIGHT AILERON INSTEAD OF RIGHT RUDDER TO CORRECT THE DRIFT. THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED OFF THE RUNWAY AND NOSED OVER WHEN THE NOSE WHEEL ENCOUNTERED SOFT SAND.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
