## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO OBTAIN OR MAINTAIN ADEQUATE AIRSPEED FOR A GO-AROUND (ABORTED LANDING), WHICH RESULTED IN AN INADVERTENT STALL/MUSH. THE FAILURE TO ATTAIN PROPER RUNWAY ALIGNMENT FOR LANDING WAS A RELATED FACTOR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, landing - aborted
  - proper alignment - not attained, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - go-around - initiated, pilot in command
  - airspeed - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall/mush - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, landing - aborted

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND, HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE MAINTAINING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. HE SAID THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO GO-AROUND, BUT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST 180 DEGREES FROM ITS ORIGINAL HEADING. POST-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO AIRFRAME OR POWERPLANT ABNORMALITIES.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910210001859A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910210001859A), Feb 10, 1991: Beech G35, Reedsburg, WI, Substantial damage. Lost control landing in a crosswind began go around and dirifted into trees.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
