## Probable cause

DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WAS NOT MAINTAINED BY THE PILOT RESULTING IN A SWERVE AND GROUND LOOP. A FACTOR RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WAS LACK OF TOTAL EXPERIENCE IN TYPE OF AIRCRAFT BY THE PILOT.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience in type of aircraft, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - ground loop/swerve - encountered, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, landing - roll

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID THAT HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A THREE POINT LANDING IN HIS OPEN COCKPIT BI PLANE AND LOST VISUAL REFERENCE ON THE ROLL OUT. DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WAS LOST AND THE AIRPLANE GROUND LOOPED, THEN NOSED OVER. THE PILOT AND PAX WERE NOT INJUREDNAD THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910317008139A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910317008139A), Mar 17, 1991: Boeing A75, North Platte, NE, Substantial damage. Ground looped and nosed over while landing the tail wheel type aircraft.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
