## Probable cause

THE PILOT INDUCED PREMATURE LIFTOFF WHICH RESULTED IN INADEQUATE AIRSPEED AND THE RESULTING STALL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - lift-off - premature, pilot in command (cause)
  - airspeed - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
  - proper climb rate - not attained, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - stall - encountered, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled
  - terrain condition - grass

## Analysis

THE PILOT OF THE CROP DUSTING AIRPLANE PREMATURELY LIFTED OFF THE UNIMPROVED FIELD DURING TAKEOFF AT AN INADEQUATE AIRSPEED. THE AIRPLANE DID NOT ATTAIN A SUFFICIENT AIRSPEED AND SUBSEQUENT CLIMB RATE TO FLY OUT OF GROUND EFFECT. THE AIRPLANE STALLED DURING THE ATTEMPT TO CLIMB OUT OF GROUND EFFECT AND COLLIDED WITH THE GROUND SHORTLY THEREAFTER.
