## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S EXCESSIVE APPLICATION OF BRAKES. A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT WAS THE PILOT'S LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS MODEL AIRCRAFT.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - weather condition - crosswind
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command
- Nose over, landing - roll
  - brakes(normal) - excessive, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience in type of aircraft, pilot in command (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE FLIGHT PURPOSE WAS TO BUILD TIME IN MODEL: THE PILOT HAD 6 HOURS, ALL RECENT. THE PILOT LANDED WITH A RIGHT CROSSWIND. AS SPEED DECREASED ON ROLLOUT, THE AIRPLANE WEATHERVANED RIGHT. THE PILOT USED LEFT BRAKE TO AUGMENT YAW CONTROL, AND THE AIRPLANE NOSED OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920407009199A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920407009199A), Apr 7, 1992: Boeing E75, Leland, IL, Substantial damage. Veered into strong crosswind on landing, applied brakes to correct. Aircraft nosed over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
