WAVES ON THE LAKE WERE RUNNING TWO TO THREE FEET WHEN THE PILOT OF THE AMPHIBIAN AIRPLANE ATTEMPTED TO LAND. THE AIRPLANE PORPOISED ON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN AND THE PORPOISING CONTINUED WITH EACH BOUNCE BECOMING MORE SEVERE. THE LAST ENTRY INTO THE WATER WAS ON THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE BOW OF THE HULL COLLAPSED AFT, THE AIRPLANE INVERTED, AND BEGAN TO SINK. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATED, 'NOTE THAT THE TEAL IS FAA APPROVED FOR OPERATION IN 12 INCH WAVES.'

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920730028259A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920730028259A), Jul 30, 1992: Teal TSC1A2, Oshkosh, WI, Substantial damage, 1 fatal. Bounced and porpoised on rough water landing. Last impact nose first. Sank inverted. Pilot drowned. Waves too high.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
