## Probable cause

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S FAILURE TO ATTAIN PROPER COMPENSATION FOR THE CROSSWIND. A FACTOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS THE CROSSWIND.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - weather condition - crosswind (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - not attained, pilot in command (cause)
  - recovery from bounced landing - not obtained, pilot in command
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command
- Nose gear collapsed, landing - roll

## Analysis

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS LANDING ON RUNWAY 15. THE REPORTED WIND WAS 210 DEGREES AT 13 KNOTS, WITH GUSTS TO 16 KNOTS. DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WAS LOST. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19911002046379A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911002046379A), Oct 2, 1991: Cessna 150L, Taylor, MO, Substantial damage. Ballooned and weather vaned into wind on landing. Lost control, bounced, came down nose first and flipped over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
