## Probable cause

THE INADEQUATE AMOUNT OF HYDRAULIC FLUID PRESENT IN THE NORMAL BRAKE SYSTEM.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - fluid,hydraulic - exhaustion (cause)
  - brakes(normal) - not possible, pilot in command
- Gear collapsed, landing - roll

## Analysis

ON LANDING AFTER A SHORT LOCAL FLIGHT, THE RIGHT BRAKE FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY. THE GEAR COLLAPSED. A SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION REVEALED INADEQUATE HYDRAULIC FLUID PRESENT IN THE RESERVOIR FOR THE NORMAL BRAKES.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19911009045549A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911009045549A), Oct 9, 1991: Beech B95A, Elkhart, IN, Substantial damage. Right brake failed on landing roll. Left runway collapsed gear. Brake resevoir empty. Differential power not used.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
