## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S INADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR THE WIND CONDITIONS. ASSOCIATED FACTORS ARE THE HIGH AND GUSTY WINDS.

  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, taxi - to takeoff

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID WHILE TAXING OUT FOR DEPARTURE, IN A GUSTY SURFACE WIND CONDITION, THE ACFT FLIPPED OVER AS HE TAXIED FROM BEHIND THE TERMINAL BUILDING. THE SURFACE WIND WAS ABOUT 25 KNOTS AND GUSTING.

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920125001039A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920125001039A), Jan 25, 1992: Cessna 182Q, Omaha, NE, Substantial damage. Tower gave wind at 25 knots with gusts. Pilot taxied from behind terminal. Severe gust flipped aircraft.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
