## Probable cause

PILOT'S IMPROPER RECOVERY FROM A BOUNCED LANDING. FACTORS IN THE ACCIDENT WERE EXCESSIVE AIRSPEED AT LANDING AND HABIT INTERFERENCE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Hard landing, landing - flare/touchdown
  - airspeed - excessive, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - habit interference, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - recovery from bounced landing - improper, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED ON TOUCHDOWN AND PORPOISED. THE PILOT STATED HIS APPROACH SPEED, 95 KNOTS, WAS BASED ON RECENT FLYING IN A DIFFERENT AIRPLANE. HE LATER CALCULATED THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FLOWN AT 83 MILES PER HOUR.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
