## Probable cause

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S FAILURE TO USE ALL TH EAVAILABLE RUNWAY AND HIS MISJUDGMENT OF THE PROPER TOUCHDOWN POINT DURING LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Overrun, landing - roll
  - all available runway - not used, pilot in command (cause)
  - touchdown - misjudged, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

ON LANDING, THE AIRPLANE DEPARTED THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING THE OVERRUN. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT HE LANDED LONG AND RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY IN THE MUD. AN EXAMINATION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE FAILED TO REVEAL ANY MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
