## Probable cause

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S NOT COMPENSATING FOR WIND CONDITIONS AND HIS NOT MAINTAINING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, landing - aborted
  - weather condition - crosswind (contributing factor)
  - aborted takeoff - initiated, pilot in command
  - compensation for wind conditions - not performed, pilot in command (cause)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - object - aircraft parked/standing
  - proper climb rate - not possible, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, takeoff - initial climb

## Analysis

AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 35 AND ROLLING FOR ABOUT 100 FEET, THE LEFT WING BEGAN TO RISE AND THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO KEEP IT DOWN. THE PILOT INITIATED AN ABORTED LANDING. THE WING CONTINUED TO RISE AND A RIGHT TURN RESULTED. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CLIMB THE AIRPLANE OVER ANOTHER PARKED AIRPLANE; HOWEVER, HIS AIRPLANE IMPACTED A PARKED AIRPLANE AND THE TERRAIN. WINDS RECORDED 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, 20 MILES TO THE SOUTHWEST WERE 290 DEGREES AT 14 KNOTS, WITH GUSTS TO 21 KNOTS.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920910039099A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920910039099A), Sep 10, 1992: Cessna 210C, Peoria, IL, Substantial damage. Crosswind gust raised left wing. Swerved to right. Tried to go around but unable to clear parked aircraft on ramp.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
