## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO RECOVER FROM THE BOUNCED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Hard landing, landing
  - recovery from bounced landing - not performed, pilot in command (cause)
- Gear collapsed, landing - flare/touchdown
  - landing gear,nose gear - overload

## Analysis

THE PILOT FLARED LATE FOR LANDING. THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED AT TOUCHDOWN, BOUNCED AGAIN 3 TIMES, AND FINALLY LANDED HEAVILY ON THE NOSE GEAR, WHICH COLLAPSED.

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920927044269A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920927044269A), Sep 27, 1992: Cessna 152, Cape Girardeau, MO, Substantial damage. Bounced and porpoised on landing due to a late flare and improper recovery or lack of same.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
