## Probable cause

THE PILOT IN COMMAND'S INADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR WIND CONDITIONS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, taxi - from landing
  - weather condition - unfavorable wind (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, taxi - from landing

## Analysis

WHILE TAXIING FROM A LANDING INTO STRONG WINDS (40-50 KTS), THE PILOT WAS TURNING TO EXIT THE TAXIWAY INTERSECTION WHEN THE AIRPLANE'S RIGHT WING AND TAIL LIFTED AND FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19930623020089A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930623020089A), Jun 23, 1993: Cessna 172N, Rapid City, SD, Substantial damage. Blown over by strong wind gust while exiting landing runway.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
