## Factual narrative

On July 5, 2012, a Boeing 747-400, HL7473, operated by Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd., as flight KAL2711, departed from the Gimpo International Airport (GMP), Seoul, South Korea, en route to the Tokyo International Airport (HND), Tokyo, Japan. Approximately 100 miles north-northwest of HND, the airplane encountered turbulence which resulted in a serious injury to a passenger. The airplane landed at HND without further incident. The event is being investigated by the Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB). The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative as the State of Manufacture under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13. All inquiries should be directed to the JTSB at the following: Japan Transport Safety Board 2-1-2, Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-Ku Tokyo, 100-8918, Japan phone:+81-3-5253-8814

## Aircraft

- Registration: HL7473 (not matched to a registry record)
- Reported make and model: BOEING 747-400
- Category: Airplane
- Damage: No damage
- Operator: Korean Air Lines Co.,

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
