## Analysis

DURING APCH TO RWY 34L, THE RT HORIZONTAL STAB, ELEVATORS AND WINGS SEPARATED IN-FLT. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE PLT WAS NOT INSTR CURRENT. NTAP DATA REVEALED N2082S AT AN ALT OF 7,400 FT AND 203 KTS GRND SPEED AT OUTER MARKER. THE MCA AT THE MARKER IS 6,100 FEET. WITNESSES SAW ACFT BREAKUP JUST BELOW LOW CLOUD CEILING. EXAM OF WRECKAGE REVEALED HORIZONTAL STAB FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF EXCESSIVE SPEED AND PLT INDUCED AERODYNAMIC OVERLOAD.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19851229066759A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19851229066759A), Dec 29, 1985: Cessna T210L, West Valley, UT, Destroyed, 5 fatal. Made a steep descent at a very high airspeed during an ILS approach. Sustained an inflight airframe breakup.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
