DURING THE DISCUSSION OF WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF LOST PWR ON TAKEOFF, THE STUDENT EXECUTED A STEEP, 180 DEGREE TURN, TOWARD THE ARPT. THE ACFT STALLED, AND THE CFI TOOK CONTROL, UNABLE TO RECOVER PRIOR TO GROUND IMPACT. THE ACFT NOSED OVER AT IMPACT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19870327007699A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870327007699A), Mar 27, 1987: Bbavia 7AC, Columbus, MT, Destroyed. The student made a steep turn during a simulated engine loss on takeoff. The aircraft stalled into a wheat field.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
