## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE AIRSPEED DURING MANEUVERS (BUZZING) WHICH RESULTED IN AN INADVERTENT STALL OF THE AIRCRAFT. A FACTOR WAS THE INTENTIONAL BUZZING OF FAMILY MEMBERS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, maneuvering
  - weather condition - high density altitude (contributing factor)
  - buzzing - intentional, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - airspeed(vs) - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall - inadvertent, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

THE PILOT WAS OBSERVED FLYING AT A LOW ALTITUDE OVER A FARM HOUSE. WITNESSES STATED THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A STEEP BANK, CIRCLING OVER HEAD, WHEN THE AIRCRAFT NOSE SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A VERTICAL ATTITUDE. THE TEMPERATURE WAS 101 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND THE WIND WAS CALM. DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS 5,500 FEET.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
