## Probable cause

INADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR THE WIND CONDITIONS BY THE PILOT. AN ON GROUND ENCOUNTER WITH WIND GUSTS IS CONSIDERED AN ADDITIONAL CAUSE.

HE SAID THAT AS HE TURNED OFF THE RWY ONTO THE TAXIWAY, THE WIND GUSTED TO WHAT HE ESTIMATED AS 62 KNOTS. HE SAID THE WIND LIFTED THE TAIL AND NOSED THE PLANE OVER. THE PLANE CAME TO REST INVERTED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900111000429A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900111000429A), Jan 11, 1990: Cessna 182M, Pierre, SD, Substantial damage. Turned out of strong gusty surface winds and was blown inverted by the wind.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
