## Analysis

THE COMMERCIAL PILOT WAS LANDING ON A GRAVEL ROAD. DURING LANDING ROLL, HE SAW TALL VEGETATION AND ATTEMPTED A GO AROUND. THE RIGHT SPRAY BOOM CONTACTED THE VEGETATION AT LIFT OFF AND THE BOOM WAS STRIPPED OFF THE WING. THE PILOT SAID HE WAS IN FLIGHT, FULL POWER, WITH NO CONTROL OF THE AILERONS. THE PLANE MADE AN UNCOMMANDED LEFT BANK TO 45 DEGREES, AT WHICH POINT THE PILOT REDUCED POWER AND THE PLANE STRUCK THE TERRAIN LEFT WING FIRST. THE PLANE CARTWHEELED AND TORE THE ENGINE, COWLING AND NOSE FRAMEWORK FROM THE FUSELAGE. THE PLANE CAME TO REST FACING OPPOSITE OF THE FLIGHT PATH.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900712025499A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900712025499A), Jul 12, 1990: Piper PA36285, Clarkston, UT, Substantial damage. Spray boom caught in tall wheat on go around from a gravel strip. Lost control aborted. Wing hit. Caused cartwheel.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
