## Factual narrative

On October 14, 2016, about 1645 coordinated universal time, a Cessna 208B, Brazilian registration PR-MIC, operated by Microsurvey Aerogeofisica E Consultoria Cientifica of Brazil, was destroyed when it impacted mountainous terrain during a survey flight near Yumbillo, Colombia. The pilot and two passengers were fatally injured. Weather conditions near the accident site were unknown for the flight that was conducted under Colombian flight regulations. The flight originated from Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport (SKCL), Palmira, Colombia. According to preliminary information from the Government of Colombia, the purpose of the flight was to conduct a survey about 30 miles northwest of SKCL. At 1644, Colombian air traffic control lost radar and radio contact with the flight, which was followed by an emergency locator transmitter signal being received. The wreckage was subsequently located about 6,900 feet mean sea level. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Colombia.
