## Sequence of events

The events NTSB coded, in order, by phase of flight. The defining event best describes what happened.

## Analysis

The pilot stated while on final approach to land, he was facing directly into the sun. The airplane touched down about 1,000 ft from the runway threshold, and during the landing roll the pilot spotted a deer running across the runway from left to right. He immediately added full power and set approach flaps to abort the landing. The pilot then heard a “thud” and the airplane yawed to the left. He immediately reduced engine power and landed the airplane on the remaining runway. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the empennage the left flap as a result of the collision with the deer. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
