## Probable cause

The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during an aborted landing, which resulted in a nose over on the grass runway.

## Findings

NTSB's coded findings; those marked are part of the probable cause.

## Analysis

The pilot of the tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that while attempting a three-point landing on a grass airstrip, the airplane bounced twice. After the second bounce, the pilot increased engine power and was attempting to abort the landing when he lost control of the airplane. It subsequently nosed over and came to rest inverted on the runway, resulting in substantial damage to the left wing and vertical stabilizer. The pilot did not report that there were any preimpact mechanical malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
