## Probable cause

The pilot’s failure to bring the airplane to a stop on the available runway, which resulted in a runway excursion.

## Findings

## Sequence of events

The events NTSB coded, in order, by phase of flight. The defining event best describes what happened.

## Analysis

While enroute, the pilot elected to divert the flight to an airport that was equipped with a single 2,129 ft-long runway. The pilot described a normal approach over trees at the approach end of the runway and that the airplane touched down about ¼ of the way down the runway. About mid-field, he stated that he did not feel that the airplane was slowing normally. He elected not to abort the landing and applied maximum braking. The airplane departed the right side of the runway before passing the runway end and rolling down an embankment and through a wooden fence. The engine mount was substantially damaged during the accident sequence. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation, nor were any discrepancies of the airplane’s flaps or brakes discovered during a postaccident examination.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
