## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, landing - flare/touchdown
  - aircraft preflight - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with object, landing - flare/touchdown
  - object - fence (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD JUST FINISHED WASHING HIS AIRCRAFT AND WAS FLYING AROUND THE AIRPORT TO DRY IT OFF. AFTER TAKEOFF THE PILOT REALIZED THAT ONE OF THE AILERON GUST LOCKS HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED. A NORMAL LANDING WAS ATTEMPTED, AND WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH, THE LEFT WING DROPPED AND THE NOSE YAWED LEFT. THE PILOT COULD NOT MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 13.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820405009239A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820405009239A), Apr 5, 1982: Cessna 150F, Corpus Christi, TX, Destroyed. Pilot forgot to remove control lock on aileron and couln't control aircraft during landing.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
