THE PURPOSE OF THE FLIGHT WAS FOR THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND TO TAKE HIS MULTI-ENGINE AIRPLANE CHECK RIDE. DURING THE TAKEOFF SEQUENCE, THE EXAMINER REDUCED POWER ON ONE ENGINE. THE PILOT DECIDED THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT RUNWAY REMAINING AND ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED OFF THE RUNWAY, CROSSED A ROAD, HIT A TREE, AND CAME TO REST IN A CEMETERY. THE AIRPORT ELEVATION WAS 5270 FT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820426044399A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820426044399A), Apr 26, 1982: Piper PA44180, Albuquerque, NM, Substantial damage. Pilot aborted takeoff during multi engine flight test. Aircraft ran off end of runway and crashed into trees.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
