## Analysis

THE HELICOPTER WAS IN FLYABLE STORAGE & WAS ON A WEEKLY FLIGHT TO OPERATE THE VARIOUS SYSTEMS. AFTER LANDING ON SOFT TERRAIN, THE PLT STARTED TO TAKEOFF. AS THE HELICOPTER LIFTED OFF, IT ROLLED OVER & THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES STRUCK THE SURFACE. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE MAIN ROTOR SYSTEM & TRANSMISSION SEPARATED FROM THE ACFT. AN EXAM REVEALED NO PREIMPACT FAILURES. THE TERRAIN CONSISTED OF MOWED SOD WITH BLACK SOIL UNDERNEATH. THE SUFFACE WAS SOFT. TWO DEEP RUTS WERE FOUND AT THE SITE WITH ADDITIONAL RUTS (FROM THE SKIDS) NEARBY.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830213012529A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830213012529A), Feb 13, 1983: Bell 206B, Addison, TX, Substantial damage. Helicopter rolled over on liftoff during a flight to operate stored aircrafts systems. Possible dynamic rollover.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
