## Analysis

SHORTLY AFTER BEGINNING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, THE ACFT'S RIGHT MAIN GEAR RAN OFF THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY INTO SOFT WET GRASS. THE SOFT GROUND APPEARED TO CAUSE THE AIRPLANE TO CONTINUE RIGHT AND OFF THE RUNWAY WITH TAKEOFF POWER STILL APPLIED. THE ACFT CONTINUED ROLLING THRU THE GRASS, PARALLEL TO THE RUNWAY, COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR, RUNNING OVER A RWY LIGHT AND CROSSING ANOTHER RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT DECELERATED AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE GRASS. THE TAKEOFF RWY IS 50 FEET WIDE AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE MAIN LANDING GEAR OF THE ACCIDENT ACFT IS 15 FEET.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830316008389A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830316008389A), Mar 16, 1983: Gulstm 695, Houston, TX, Substantial damage. Allowed a wheel to leave the runway on initial takeoff roll. Tried to power out of mud. Nose gear collapsed.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
