## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
  - ground loop/swerve - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - ground (contributing factor)
  - brakes(normal) - improper use of, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE CROSSWIND LANDING AND INITIAL ROLLOUT WERE NORMAL. SHORTLY AFTER THE TAILWHEEL SETTLED A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND OF SURPRISING STRENGTH CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO WEATHERVANE INTO THE WIND AND TOWARD A LINE OF PARKED AIRPLANES. TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH THE ACFT HE APPLIED BRAKES CAUSING THE ACFT TO GO NOSE DOWN AND OVER ON ITS BACK.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830410012419A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830410012419A), Apr 10, 1983: Grtlks 2T1A2, Shreveport, LA, Substantial damage. During latter part of rollout after landing pilot applied brakes as gust of wind flipped airplane inverted.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
