## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID HE WAS PRACTICING WATER LANDINGS IN THE LAKE.DURING A LANDING, THE AIRPLANE STARTED PORPOISING DUE TO THE WAKE OF A PASSING BOAT. THE AIRPLANE LANDED HARD. THE WINDSHEILD CRACKED AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO TAKE THE AIRPLANE TO THE HOME AIRPORT FOR FINAL LANDING. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT, THE NOSE GEAR DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND WITH ONLY THE MAIN GEAR EXTENDED AND THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED. AS THE AIRPLANE SLOWED DOWN AFTER LANDING, THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST ON THE RUNWAY.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19880612021489A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880612021489A), Jun 12, 1988: Conaer LA4200, Mico, TX, Substantial damage. Struck boat wake on water landing. Aircraft damage included broken windsheld. Returned to base landed nose gear up.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
