## Probable cause

THE INADVERTENT STALL ENCOUNTERED DURING THE TURN TO REVERSE DIRECTION.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with object, maneuvering - aerial application
  - stall/mush - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
  - object - tree(s)
  - remedial action - attempted, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

DURING THE TURN AROUND MANEUVER BETWEEN SWATH RUNS, THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO SETTLE AND THE PILOT SENSED THAT HE WAS GETTING BEHIND THE POWER CURVE. HE ATTEMPTED TO DUMP HIS LOAD BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO DUE TO TENSION ON THE DUMP HANDLE. THE AIRPLANE THEN CONTACTED TOPS OF TREES, STALLED, AND DESCENDED OUT OF CONTROL TO IMPACT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900904038239A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900904038239A), Sep 4, 1990: Scwzer G164B, Dumas, AR, Substantial damage. Clipped tree tops on pullup from a spray run. Landed in plowed field and nosed over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
