## Probable cause

THE POWER LOSS FOR UNDETERMINED REASONS. A FACTOR WAS THE ROUGH UNEVEN TERRAIN IN WHICH THE FORCED LANDING WAS PERFORMED.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power, maneuvering - aerial application
  - reason for occurrence undetermined (cause)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with terrain/water, landing
  - terrain condition - rough/uneven (contributing factor)

## Analysis

AFTER THE LAST SWATH RUN THE PILOT PULLED UP AND EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. A FORCED LANDING ON THE EDGE OF A COTTON FIELD RESULTED IN TERRAIN IMPACT SLIGHTLY NOSE LOW. THE FAA REPRESENTATIVE AND THE AIRPLANE OWNER INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND FOUND NO MECHANICAL DISCREPANCIES.

## Other investigations on N70114 (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW00LA166](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW00LA166), Jun 1, 2000: Cessna A188B (N70114), Pioneer, LA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with trees while maneuvering during an aerial application flight. A factor was the pilot's lack in experience with aerial application flight operations.
