## Probable cause

THE PILOT FAILED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE CROSS WIND DURING THE TAKEOFF INITIAL CLIMB. THIS LED TO A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND SUBSEQUENT COLLISION WITH THE WINDSOCK STANDARD.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - weather condition - crosswind (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - not maintained, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - object - pole (contributing factor)
