## Probable cause

DOUBLE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION. THE FUEL EXHAUSTION WAS CAUSED BY INCORRECT INFLIGHT FUEL CONSUMPTION CALCULATIONS AND ONE INACCURATE FUEL QUANITY GAUGE. CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS THE DARK NIGHT RESTRICTION TO VISIBILITY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(total) - nonmechanical, descent - normal
  - all engines
  - fuel consumption calculations - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
  - fluid,fuel - exhaustion (cause)
  - fuel system,fuel quantity float/sensor - incorrect (contributing factor)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with object, approach - vfr pattern - base leg/base to final
  - light condition - dark night (contributing factor)
  - object - wire,transmission
  - visual lookout - restricted, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
