## Probable cause

A POWER LOSS FOR UNDETRMINED REASONS. A FACTOR WAS THE MUDDY/SOFT TERRAIN IN WHICH THE FORCED LANDING WAS PERFORMED.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(partial) - mech failure/malf, cruise
  - reason for occurrence undetermined (cause)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with terrain/water, landing - flare/touchdown
  - terrain condition - none suitable (contributing factor)
  - terrain condition - soft
  - terrain condition - wet

## Analysis

WHILE CRUISING AT ABOUT 150 FEET AGL, THE ENGINE 'MADE A LOUD POP' AND POWER WENT TO IDLE. DURING THE FORCED LANDING IN MUDDY TERRAIN THE AIRPLANE NOSED OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910402008179A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910402008179A), Apr 2, 1991: Scwzer G164A, Earle, AR, Substantial damage. Engine trailed smoke and lost power. Flipped over on forced landing.

## Other investigations on N5336 (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
