## Probable cause

LOSS OF THE OUTBOARD PORTION OF THE PROPELLER BLADE. A FACTOR WAS THE LACK OF SUITABLE TERRAIN FOR THE FORCED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Airframe/component/system failure/malfunction, maneuvering - aerial application
  - propeller system/accessories,blade - loss,partial (cause)
  - reason for occurrence undetermined
  - emergency procedure - performed, pilot in command
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with terrain/water, landing
  - terrain condition - none suitable (contributing factor)

## Analysis

DURING THE DAYTIME AERIAL APPLICATION MANEUVER, THE PILOT PERFORMED A FORCED LANDING AFTER EXPERIENCING A SEVERE ENGINE VIBRATION. THE AIRPLANE LANDING GEAR WAS DESTROYED AS THE PILOT STRUCK A RICE LEVEE DURING THE LANDING. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED AN INFLIGHT LOSS OF THE OUTBOARD SECTION OF THE PROPELLER BLADE.

## Other investigations on N1260W (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
