## Probable cause

LOSS OF ENGINE POWER FOR AN UNDETERMINED REASON. A FACTOR WAS THE LACK OF SUITABLE TERRAIN FOR THE FORCED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power, maneuvering - aerial application
  - reason for occurrence undetermined (cause)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with object, descent - emergency
  - terrain condition - none suitable (contributing factor)
  - object - tree(s)
  - object - residence

## Analysis

DURING A 14 CRF 137 FLIGHT, THE NON-QUALIFIED PRIVATE PILOT WAS MAKING A SPRAYING PASS WHEN THE ENGINE LOST TOTAL POWER FOR UNDETERMINED REASONS. DURING THE EMERGENCY DESCENT, THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A TREE, WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND STRUCK A HOUSE BEFORE GROUND IMPACT. AFTER GROUND IMPACT, THE AIRPLANE WAS CONSUMED BY POST-CRASH FIRE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910622053499A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910622053499A), Jun 22, 1991: Scwzer G164B, Mccrory, AR, Destroyed. Engine quit on a spray turn around. Struck a tree and residence on forced landing and burned. Cause unknown.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
