## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN PROPER GLIDEPATH. A FACTOR WAS THE BERM AT THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with terrain/water, approach - vfr pattern - final approach
  - terrain condition - berm (contributing factor)
  - proper glidepath - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

DURING AN APPROACH TO A SOD STRIP, THE PILOT ALLOWED THE AIRPLANE TO DESCEND TOO LOW AND STRUCK A DIRT BERM 50 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE NOSED OVER.

## Other investigations on N5076 (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: a loss of engine power due to a cracked number 2 cylinder which resulted in a forced landing, subsequent impact with the runway, departure from the runway down an embankment, soft terrain and nose…
