## Probable cause

A LOSS OF POWER FOR UNDETERMINED REASON. A FACTOR WAS THE TERRAIN ON WHICH THE PILOT MADE THE FORCED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power, maneuvering - aerial application
  - reason for occurrence undetermined
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with terrain/water, landing
  - terrain condition - none suitable (contributing factor)

## Analysis

AS THE AERIAL APPLICATION PILOT APPROACHED THE FIELD FOR HIS FIRST PASS THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO SETTLE. UPON REALIZING HE WAS GOING TO SETTLE BELOW THE TREE LINE HE ADDED FULL POWER. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE, AND THE PILOT LANDED IN A BEAN FIELD. NO CAUSE FOR THE LOSS OF POWER WAS FOUND AT ENGINE EXAMINATION.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910816034599A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910816034599A), Aug 16, 1991: Scwzer G164A, Allport, AR, Destroyed. Engine failed. Aircraft destroyed on forced landing. Cause power loss undetermined.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
