## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE RIGHT BRAKE LINE DURING A CRITICAL PHASE OF OPERATION.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Airframe/component/system failure/malfunction, landing - roll
  - landing gear,normal brake system - failure,partial (cause)
  - hydraulic system,line - separation (cause)
- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - brakes(normal) - attempted
  - directional control - not possible, pilot in command

## Analysis

THE AIRPLANE VEERED LEFT DURING THE LANDING ROLL, AND THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT BY USING RIGHT RUDDER AND BRAKE. HIS EFFORTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND THE AIRPLAANE GROUND LOOPED. INVESTIGATION REVEALED A CRACK AND SEPARATION IN THE RIGHT BRAKE LINE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910629029909A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910629029909A), Jun 29, 1991: Cessna A188B, Lewisville, AR, Substantial damage. Lost directional control landing. No right brake. Ground looped. Right brake line had ruptured.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
