## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S IMPROPER RECOVERY FROM A BOUNCED LANDING. FACTORS WERE THE PILOT'S EXCESSIVE AIRSPEED AND IMPROPER FLARE TECHNIQUE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - flare/touchdown
  - airspeed - excessive, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - flare - improper, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - porpoise/pilot-induced oscillation - encountered, pilot in command
  - recovery from bounced landing - improper, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN WITH EXCESSIVE AIRSPEED AND A PORPOISE DEVELOPED. IT THEN BOUNCED 4 OR 5 TIMES BEFORE CONTROL WAS REGAINED. THE AIRCRAFT SUBSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FIRE WALL.
