## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S INADVERTENT STALL OF THE AIRPLANE WHILE MANEUVERING AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF CONTROL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, maneuvering - aerial application
  - stall - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

THE PILOT STATED THAT WHILE PRACTICING AERIAL APPLICATION MANEUVERS WITH WATER IN THE HOPPER, HE ALLOWED THE AIRSPEED TO DECAY IN A TURN AND THE AIRPLANE STALLED AT LOW ALTITUDE. HE ADDED POWER AND DUMPED THE LOAD, HOWEVER, HE WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE MAIN GEAR SUBSEQUENTLY STRUCK A DIRT MOUND AND COLLAPSED.

## Other investigations on N1619S (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW97LA186](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW97LA186), May 12, 1997: Snow S2C (N1619S), Hondo, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control while landing.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
