## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING THE LANDING ROLL

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - ground loop/swerve - inadvertent, pilot in command
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll

## Analysis

FOLLOWING A SERIES OF TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS THE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL ON THE LAST LANDING. DURING THE LANDING ROLL THE AIRPLANE SWERVED AND GROUND LOOPED, DAMAGING THE RIGHT WING AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR

## Factual narrative

On January 16, 1993, at 1448 central standard time, a Boeing A75N1, N56221, was substantially damaged during landing at Stinson Airport, San Antonio, Texas. The pilot was not injured. Weather for the 14 CFR part 91 flight was visual meteorological conditions. W. M. Parker of Seguin, Texas, was the registered owner and operator.

During interviews with the pilot conducted by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector and in a written report, the pilot stated that he was practicing touch and go landings. He further reported that during the last landing he lost directional control and the airplane ground looped, damaging the right main landing gear and right wing.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19930116000419A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930116000419A), Jan 16, 1993: Boeing A75N1, San Antonio, TX, Substantial damage. Lost control on landing roll. Ground looped.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
