## Analysis

THE ACFT IMPACTED THE TERRAIN AT 4600 FT MSL AT A STEEP ANGLE IN BRUSH AND DIRT NEAR A FIRE ROAD. ACCORDING TO THE PLTS FAMILY THE ACFT HAD RECENTLY BEEN PURCHASED BY THE PLT AND HE FREQUENTLY PRACTICED AEROBATICS IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. HISAEROBATIC INSTRUCTION CONSISTED OF INFORMAL DISCUSSIONS. THE DENSITY ALT AT THE ACCIDENT SITE WAS CALCULATED TO BE ABOUT7500 FT. THE WEATHER WAS VMC AND WINDS WERE LIGHT AND VARIABLE. THE ENGINE WAS PARTIALLY DISASSEMBLED ON 7/27 AND NO CONDITIONS WERE FOUND WHICH WOULD HAVE INTERFERED WITH NORMAL OPERATION.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830713037149A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830713037149A), Jul 13, 1983: Bbavia 7KCAB, Fontana, CA, Destroyed. Aircraft crashed during a time when pilot normally practiced aerobatics in a recently acquired airplane.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
