AN ENGINE POWER LOSS FOR UNDETERMINED REASONS.

## Sequence of events

## Analysis

THE PLT RPTD THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE INCREASED TO 10 PSI FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT LEANED THE MIXTURE CONTROL BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE AIRPLANE CRASHED ADJACENT TO THE AIRPORT. THE PLT RPTD THAT A MECHANIC ADJUSTED THE FUEL PRESSURE BEFORE DEPARTING ON THE ACCIDENT FLT; THE MECHANIC DENIED THAT HE ADJUSTED THE FUEL PRESSURE AND ACCUSED THE PLT OF PERFORMING THE ADJUSTMENT. THE FUEL PUMP OPERATED NORMALLY WHEN FUNCTIONALLY TESTED. THE CARBURETOR WAS BROKEN AND COULD NOT BE TESTED. BOTH FUEL TANKS CONTAINED ADEQUATE FUEL.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19890808032599A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890808032599A), Aug 8, 1989: Blanca 1419, Chandler, AZ, Substantial damage. Engine failed on takeoff. Crash landed off airport. Had prior fuel flow problem.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
