## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S MISJUDGING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE AIRPLANE AND HANGAR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water collision with object, taxi - from landing
  - object - building(nonresidential)
  - distance - misjudged, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE PILOT PASSED BY HIS PARKING SPOT WHILE TAXIING FROM LANDING. THE PILOT APPLIED HIGH POWER ON THE LEFT ENGINE AND IDLE POWER ON THE RIGHT ENGINE TO EXECUTE A 180 DEGREE TURN AND TAXI BETWEEN A PARKED VEHICLE AND HANGAR. DURING THE TURN THE AIRPLANE'S LEFT WING STRUCK THE HANGAR. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE RIGHT BRAKE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES REPORTED OBSERVING ABOUT 150 FEET OF SKID MARKS MADE BY BOTH WHEELS.

- [Accident 19901124052079A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19901124052079A), Nov 24, 1990: Cessna T303, Santa Ana, CA, Substantial damage. Taxiing too fast. Tried to turn with one engine high power, other idle. Hit hangar. Left 150 feet of skid marks.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
