## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT WAS THE PILOT'S LACK OF TOTAL EXPERIENCE IN THIS TYPE OF AIRCRAFT.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - flare/touchdown
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience in type of aircraft, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- On ground/water collision with object, landing - flare/touchdown
  - object - fence

## Analysis

THE CERTIFICATED PRIVATE PILOT/OWNER STATED THAT HE WAS DOING HIS FIRST SOLO IN A TAYLORCRAFT AIRPLANE. HE MADE A NORMAL TAKEOFF FOR LEFT CLOSED TRAFFIC. ON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN, FOR A TOUCH AND GO, THE PLANE BOUNCED. HE ADDED POWER AND ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO SETTLE BACK TO THE RUNWAY AT WHICH TIME HE LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND HIT A TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCE.

## Other investigations on N49368 (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
